Richarlison scores his first World Cup goal and Brazil’s 18th goal.
|He now gets his first World Cup goal after scoring 18 goals in 39 appearances for Brazil.
Brazil struggled to take advantage of opportunities against Serbia’s defense for more than an hour. While Raphinha, Vinicius Jr., and Neymar were making solid outside passes, they were unable to complete the move. In the end, Vinicius Jr. got some room and curled in a powerful shot that was again stopped. Fortunately for Brazil, Richarlison scored just in time to give the overwhelming favorite team a 1-0 lead against Serbia.
Richarlison has been playing well for Tottenham in the Premier League and was anticipated to be a member of Brazil’s potent offensive unit. If he continues cleaning up misses and saves, he should be a key member of this group for the remainder of the campaign. He earned the start on Thursday.
