Why We Killed Ekiti Farmer After Paying N1.5m Ransom – Suspect

After demanding N1.5 million in ransom, two infamous kidnappers admitted to murdering a farmer named Segun Adams in the state of Ekiti.

The victim was abducted on his farm at Kajola, a farmhouse in Ado Ekiti, by the perpetrators, Ojo Jubril and Job Mathew.

The two were apprehended by members of the State Police Command and other state security networks following an extensive woodland search operation.

On Friday, November 25, as the suspects and six other people were being paraded, the command’s deputy police public relations officer, Mr. Sunday Ayemoni, gave a press conference and said the offenders had been involved in kidnapping, murder, conspiracy, and armed robbery.

He claimed that on November 23, 2022, at around 3:30 pm, two infamous kidnappers named Ojo Jubril and Job Matthew were captured by command personnel who were engaged in a rescue operation inside the forest of Ijan-Ekiti in the Gbonyin Local Government Area.

“After being questioned, the suspects admitted that they had abducted Adams Segun, 55, on November 16, 2022, from his Kajola Farm settlement in Ijan-Ekiti.

“The suspects admitted to participating in a number of kidnappings in Ekiti State and named Busuyi Popoola, Daniel, with an unknown second name, and Daniel as their cohorts.

They also admitted to being the ones who killed Adams Segun, one of their abduction victims.

Ayemoni said that among the detained individuals, evidence included a single barrel that had been reduced to size and a spent cartridge had been found.

The suspects said in a video that NaijanoWell saw that they had slain Adams after receiving the N1.5 million ransom because he recognized one of them.
