NPC Suggestions N532.7bn For Census in 2023

The National Population Commission (NPC) informed the Senate on Wednesday that it planned to spend N532.7 billion in total to conduct the national census in April 2023.

The Chairman of the Commission, Alhaji Nasir Isa Kwarra, stated in Abuja when he appeared before the Senate Committee on National Population and Identity Management, which is chaired by Senator Sahabi Ya’u of the APC Zamfara North, to defend the 2023 budget estimates, that the N532.7billion was solely a proposal for the conduct of the 2023 census.

Aside from the N10 billion budgetary request for the 2023 fiscal year designated for the NPC, he said that the amount of N532. An estimated 795, 604, 726 billion will be spent on the 2023 census.

By making the 2023 census not only accurate, trustworthy, and dependable, but also acceptable to all Nigerians, the NPC is prepared to completely rewrite the history of censuses in Nigeria.

The head of the NPC indicated that the planned amount for the 2023 census includes post-enumeration survey costs and that the exercise would mark a significant difference from earlier censuses in terms of focusing on the problem of climate change.
