FG is accused of being careless by NGF.

The Federal Government (FG) has been accused of negligence by the Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF), who claim that this action is what is really to blame for the country’s rising poverty rates.

In response to the Federal Government’s claim that governors are to blame for rising poverty, the Forum said in a statement that Clement Agba, Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, was making the claim in an effort to deflect attention from the Federal government’s egregious failings.

The diatribe earlier this week by Mr. Clement Agba, the Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, in which he blamed the 36 governors for the nation’s rising poverty index, surprised the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, according to NGF Spokesperson Abdul Razaque Bello Barkindo.

“The minister completely misunderstood his message. In addition to being pointless, his attacks show a cavalier slide towards selective amnesia. Additionally, it serves as a diversion in the Governors’ eyes.

The NGF criticized charges that governors have neglected the rural population and stated that, in this case, the governors believe the Federal Government, which the minister represents, is strictly responsible for the dereliction the minister is referring to.

The statement went on to say that protecting people’s lives and property is every government’s top priority. However, the Federal Government, which is in charge of protecting lives and property, has failed to keep its promise to the populace, allowing bandits, insurgents, and kidnappers to turn the nation into a killing field by maiming and kidnapping people in public places like schools and market squares as well as on their farms.

According to the NGF, this neglect on the part of the central government is the fundamental cause of why people have been unable to carry out routine agricultural work and commercial activity.

“Today, life for the average person is often harsh and brutish, with insecure marketplaces, risky travel, and insecure rural locations.
