Marcus Rashford has explained why he was given a benching against Wolves by Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag.

He said it was retribution for being late to a team meeting.

However, when challenged by media about the decision to start without Marcus Rashford against Wolves, Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag responded in the following manner: “After the decision, he came in, he was bright, he was energetic, he scored a goal – that is the appropriate reply.

“Of course [that is the end of the issue], but everyone needs to abide by the same standards, and if you respond in this way, that is the correct response,” the speaker said.
