Sporting Lisbon gets contacted by Barcelona over Pedro Porro

Barcelona now has Pedro Porro on its list of potential right backs. The top European teams have taken note of the outstanding season the Sporting Lisbon defender is enjoying thanks to his performances. The daily “Record” reports that Barça recently approached the Portuguese squad to inquire about a price without, as of yet, making any formal offers. Also interested is Atlético Madrid.

The likelihood that Porro will leave Portugal this summer is high, and talks with Tottenham are already far along. According to reports, the English club and the player are close to a deal, although the club won’t pay the 45 million euro transfer price. Sporting has remained rigid, but everything points to a possible relaxation in the near future.

Sporting and Barça have a great working relationship, and this summer, Barça should collect 7 million euros for Trincao. The Blaugrana would set aside a buyback option in this transaction of between 20 and 25 million euros.

Barça would be open to giving up this choice if Porro could be acquired for a fair price; his actual market value is little over 20 million euros.

The favorites to fill the right-back position in the new project are in the Bundesliga, and Barça has already talked with a variety of candidates for the position. Barça is aware that Pavard (Bayern) and Meunier (Dortmund) may depart for a sum that is more than affordable.
