Another INEC facility in Imo was set on fire by criminals.

A facility of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the Imo State Oru Local Government Area has reportedly been set on fire by arsonists once again.

This happened only a few hours after suspected arsonists set fire to an INEC building in the state’s Orlu Local Government Area. According to him, the most recent assault happened on Sunday about 4:00 am.

 

The first assault happened on Thursday, and the second one will happen only 72 hours later.

 

The event was verified in a statement released on Sunday by Festus Okoye, the INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee.

 

Our office in the Oru West Local Government Area was assaulted at about 4 a.m. on Sunday, December 4, 2022, according to Professor Sylvia Uchenna Agu, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Imo State.

 

“The Conference Room was impacted by the assault, and office fixtures and furnishings were damaged. Other important facilities weren’t impacted, either.

 

It should be remembered that our office in Orlu Local Government Area, Imo State, was also assaulted on Thursday, December 1st, 2022.
