Harry Kane Joining Chelsea Seems Improbable

The long-rumored departure of star striker Harry Kane from White Hart Lane may finally take place next summer. It is not unexpected to hear about the Blues being connected given Chelsea’s front-line problems and their readiness to make further investments.

Although it makes sense to move for the English captain, it does not seem likely to happen. Recent discussion on Kane’s future by reporter Matt Law included a comment about how unlikely a transfer across London would be. This summer, the striker will only have one year left on his contract, giving him far more negotiating leverage than he had before when he attempted to leave Tottenham. Kane will likely fetch a very high price from domestic competitors, and chairman Daniel Levy will likely insist that he remain in the Premier League.

Although Law asserts that Todd Boehly would “spread out the red carpet” to lure Kane to Stamford Bridge, he also thinks it is “very improbable” that Levy would approve the transfer. Law also doubts that Kane would risk the backlash from Spurs supporters he would face if he joined.

Chelsea is still seeking for a long-term striker solution, but it seems that Harry Kane may be too idealistic.
