Neymar was exonerated of fraud and corruption accusations linked to his move to Barcelona.

Neymar, a striker for PSG and Brazil, has been exonerated of all allegations of fraud and corruption in connection with his 2013 move from Santos to Barcelona.

Last Friday, Neymar was unable to see Paris Saint-3-0 Germain’s victory over Ajaccio in Ligue 1 since legal action against him had just begun in a Spanish court.

The 30-year-old moved to Barcelona from Santos in 2013 for €17.1 million. Brazilian investment company DIS received €6.8 million at the time since it had 40% of Neymar’s rights at the time.

But DIS argued that since the transfer fee’s worth was overstated, it was cheated out of its due share. They demanded Neymar serve two years in jail and pay a €10 million fine.

However, Spanish prosecutor Luis Garcia Canton treated them rudely. He requested the judge’s “acquittal of all defendants” during the trial in Barcelona by declaring, “There is not the least suspicion of criminality.”

Sandro Rossell, the former president of Barcelona, was also asked to serve a five-year prison sentence, and the club was asked to pay a fine of €8.4 million.

While reserving the right to seek damages, Neymar’s attorneys are anticipated to seek fees for what they deem to be negligence, bad faith, and misuse of the judicial system.

On Monday, Neymar has the right to the ultimate word.

According to a court document made public in July, Barcelona allegedly started talks with Neymar in 2011 and paid him €40 million to assure his transfer when his contract with Santos expired in 2014, according to EPSN.

The prosecutor, though, called it “extreme” to classify it as a crime.
