IAEA Raises Alarm Over Potential Israeli Strike on Iran’s Nuclear Facilities

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has expressed growing concern about the possibility of an Israeli military strike targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities. This heightened tension follows a recent attack by Iran on Israel and ongoing disagreements over Iran’s nuclear program.

Rafael Grossi, Director General of the IAEA, voiced these concerns after Iran temporarily closed its nuclear facilities “for security reasons” following their attack on Israel. While inspections have resumed, Grossi emphasized, “We are always concerned about the possibility” of an Israeli strike. He urged “extreme restraint” from both sides.

Israel has long viewed Iran’s nuclear program with suspicion, accusing them of pursuing nuclear weapons development. Iran vehemently denies these allegations, insisting their program is solely for peaceful purposes.

The recent missile and drone attack by Iran against Israel further strained relations. Israel has not ruled out a military response, raising fears of a wider regional conflict.

The international community is calling for both sides to de-escalate tensions and pursue diplomatic solutions. The IAEA plays a crucial role in monitoring Iran’s nuclear program, ensuring it remains peaceful. A potential Israeli strike on Iranian facilities could disrupt these efforts and have devastating consequences.
