Real Reason Buhari Refused to Approve the Impeachment of Fayose

Ayodele Fayose, the former governor of Ekiti State, should have been removed from office when the president had the authority and chance, but he chose not to do so, according to Femi Adesina, the president’s special adviser for media and publicity.

The disclosure was revealed by Adesina in a piece he penned in honor of Buhari’s upcoming 80th birthday on December 17. (tomorrow).

According to the president’s special advisor, Buhari did not succeed in having Fayose removed from office via the Ekiti State House of Assembly, which at the time was mostly controlled by members of the All Progressives Congress, because he had “no malevolent bone in his body.”

Adesina remembered how Fayose had attacked Buhari in the run-up to the 2014 elections and said that the president, if elected at the time, would not survive his term in office in the essay headed “Buhari at 80: No Malicious Bone In His Body.”

When he took office, he said, Buhari had the option of retaliating and ordering the Inspector General of Police to close down the Ekiti State Assembly, but he chose peace.

He also remembered that at a Council of State meeting at the Presidential Villa, Buhari extended a cordial greeting to Fayose rather than resorting to violence.

How about Ayo Fayose, the Irunmole who eats Jollof rice, Adesina asked. The former governor of Ekiti State has opposed Buhari since 2014, throughout elections. He ran the notorious newspaper advertising showing a coffin and suggesting that if Buhari were elected, he wouldn’t stay long.

“Fayose’s party was defeated handily, and President Buhari arrived. What, in the case of the guy with the teacup and saucer, would a typical, vindictive person have done?

“When Buhari took office, the APC members Fayose had inherited predominated the Ekiti House of Assembly. Now what? Simply issue a directive ordering the removal of the Governor within a week and instructing the Inspector General of Police to secure the Assembly room. Buhari not however. Why? mostly because he is completely without malice.
