Supposed Yahoo Boys and Girls kidnaps a coworker for the purpose of sharing the proceeds

Four accused internet fraudsters known as the “Yahoo Boys” were seized by Ogun State Police Command officers on Monday, December 26 for allegedly kidnapping a colleague and extorting a cut of the money coming from their shady business sources.

According to a statement made by the state police command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspects—named Agbe Simeon, Messiah Nicky, Oladapo Dolapo, and Yetunde Shonola—were apprehended at Orile imo village in Obafemi Owode local government area of Ogun state after the police at Owode Egba divisional headquarters learned that one Haruna Usman, who had been

 

“Upon receiving the information, CSP Popoola Olasunkanmi of the DPO Owode Egba division promptly rallied his troops and raided the place, where four of the kidnappers were captured while two others managed to flee.

 

The victim and the suspects are members of an internet fraudster syndicate, according to preliminary investigation, and they recently defrauded a person of the sum of twenty-six million, four hundred and thirty seven thousand, nine hundred and fifty naira (#26,437,950). However, the victim only gave his other associates the amount of $2,200, claiming that their client had not paid the full amount.

 

His coworkers were enraged by this and led him to a herbalist’s house in Orile Imo, where they had kept him captive since Thursday, December 22, 2022, threatening to murder him if he didn’t pay them their full share.

 

But while they were there, information reached the police, who intervened, freed the victim, and captured four of the kidnappers while the others made off, according to the statement.

 

Oyeyemi stated that CP Lanre Bankole, the state’s chief of police, has ordered that the suspects be sent to the State Criminal Investigation Department’s anti-kidnapping squad for more research and potential prosecution.
