Governor of Plateau State Lalong challenges Christians to “Go Aand Join Politics”

Christians have been urged by Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong to actively participate in politics.

In order to foster peaceful relations in the nation, he also asked Christians to make an effort to constructively contribute to national growth, democratic ideals, and good governance.

 

Speaking on Friday at the Association of Papal Knights and Medalists in Nigeria’s 14th annual conference, which was held in Jos, the capital of the Plateau State, governor Lalong said the conference was appropriate because it addressed issues related to leadership, hiring, and the provision of good governance in Nigeria by the political class and bureaucrats.

“Many have argued, and rightfully so, that Nigeria’s many problems are the result of weak leadership. Many individuals, however, fail to remember or fail to comprehend that leadership does not begin and finish with elections. It begins considerably early and continues on after.

 

He saw that regrettably, many of the brothers and sisters choose to criticize, chastise, and even bring down those in authority rather than become engaged.

 

He thanked the Catholic Church for providing a solid and powerful platform for encouraging and pressuring its members to get involved in politics, highlighting the fact that there is still much that needs to be done within Nigerian Christendom to ensure that more Christians hold positions of authority.
