The Barcelona wonderkid starts practicing with the first squad right away.

Less than a week after joining the club, Lucas Roman, a new acquisition for Barcelona, was thrust into first team practice.

By signing Argentina U20 international Roman from Club Ferro Carril Oeste, La Blaugrana have maintained their strategy of understated acquisitions.

The 18-year-old, who made his first appearance for the Ferro first team as an explosive left winger a year ago, has generated controversy in his home country.

He reportedly paid €1.2 million to join to Barcelona, and there is a €400 million release clause at the Camp Nou, although he was scheduled to play for the B team for the rest of 2022–2023.

Nevertheless, according to sources from Diario Sport, he was there during Xavi’s practice earlier today, along with another young player Angel Alarcon, who signed a long-term contract deal last week.

Roman is scheduled to play for Barcelona B against Cornella this weekend, but with Ousmane Dembele expected to miss a month with an injury, Roman may be called up quickly to the first team matchday squad.
