Marcus Rashford’s transformation into “one of the most dangerous players in Europe” at Manchester United has earned Erik ten Hag plaudits from Barcelona boss Xavi Hernandez.

In the opening leg of their play-off for a spot in the Europa League knockout phase, the Spanish powerhouses visit United on Thursday.

Ten Hag was hired in the summer, and since then, the Red Devils have excelled in both the Premier League and the EFL Cup final, leaving a lasting impression.

Xavi praised Ten Hag as a fantastic coach.

“In my opinion, he is succeeding in [reversing] United’s predicament, even if it was not an easy assignment to do so.

“The club, the fan base, and also the way they play do a lot, they are enthusiastic again.

It’s a difficult competition for us, and he’s a really intriguing coach, because he alters things both offensively and defensively, and everyone is working extremely hard.
