Manchester United offer Donny van de Beek to Jose Mourinho’s Roma

Manchester United have offered Jose Mourinho the chance to sign Donny van de Beek for Roma this summer.

The Dutchman endured another difficult campaign at Old Trafford, making just ten appearances in all competitions.

His season was ended when he suffered a gruesome knee injury against Bournemouth in December but the Netherlands international has made a quicker-than-expected recovery.

Erik ten Hag’s appointment gave Van de Beek renewed hope that his Old Trafford career could get back on track.

However, the midfielder is far down the pecking order at the Theatre of Dreams and United are interested in signing Mason Mount from Chelsea.

Van de Beek’s future therefore looks bleak and Gianluca Di Marzio says he’s been offered to Roma on loan.

Mourinho, who spent three years at Old Trafford, will make a decision on a move in the coming days.

Roma’s finances are tight but a loan deal could suit the Italians, who missed out on Champions League qualification last term.

United are desperate to free up some space on their wage bill and must comply with Financial Fair Play regulations in the transfer market.

That’s limited Ten Hag to a budget of around £120m, which he must boost via player sales.

United are weighing up a move for West Ham ace Declan Rice but they’re behind Arsenal in the running.
