Former Man United Defender John O’shea Lands A New Position

John O’Shea, a former center defender for Manchester United, has been named Stephen Kenny’s assistant coach for the Republic of Ireland.

After working with the Under 21 squad for over three years, O’Shea, who earned 118 caps for the Republic of Ireland, is promoted to assistant coach for the senior team.

The 41-year-old has just finished off his FAI-approved UEFA Pro Licence.

About his new position, O’Shea said:

I’m excited to work with Stephen and the rest of the backroom crew and am thrilled to join the senior international team coaching staff.

O’Shea moved from Man United to Sunderland in 2011.

Prior to his football retirement, he also played for Reading.
