For Over Two Years, Arsenal Has Followed Moussa Diaby, According To Romano

According to Fabrizio Romano of Caught Offside, Arsenal has been keeping an eye on Moussa Diaby for over two years in an effort to possibly beat out Bayer Leverkusen for the forward’s services this summer.

In recent years, Diaby has been one of Europe’s most impressive performers. With 11 goals and six assists in all competitions this season, he has been exceptional for the Bundesliga team.

In 156 appearances with Leverkusen, he has contributed to 89 goals overall. That he seems to have several European heavyweights vying for his signing is not surprising.

Diaby has been a target for Arsenal for over two years.

According to Romano, the 23-year-old is desired by Newcastle United and Paris Saint-Germain. But Arsenal is still a contender. Intriguingly, it seems that the Gunners have been in the race for a very long time.

According to Romano, Moussa Diaby has been valued by Arsenal for a long time.

“It’s been over two years since he left, but other teams, like PSG and Newcastle, experienced the same thing.

“Bayer Leverkusen wished to retain him last summer and in January; for this summer, it will depend on the worth of the bids,” the statement reads.

Arsenal will undoubtedly compete for some of the most intriguing players available this summer. It is quite probable that they will participate in the Champions League the next season, regardless of whether they win the league championship this year.

In a few places, they will require more depth and quality. And that also applies to those broader positions, which this season have mostly been filled by Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka.

Diaby is definitely someone who may pique Arsenal supporters’ interest. He moves with amazing speed. Also, he has been praised for his “astonishing” skill.

Throughout the last several years, Arsenal has made relatively few mistakes in the transfer market. Hence, if fans spend a lot of money on Diaby in the summer, they will feel quite confident.

But, it is obvious that the Gunners are not the only team vying for his services. Moreover, winning the race will be challenging given that Diaby is being watched by two of Europe’s financial heavyweights.
