Barcelona Completes Its First Significant Signing Of The Summer On A Pre-contractual Basis.

Barcelona’s winter transfer window is expected to be relatively quiet, but director of football Mateu Alemany is already making plans for the summer.

El Chiringuito claims that the Blaugrana have already completed their first signing of the summer transfer season. Ilkay Gundogan, a midfielder for Manchester City who will be out of contract in the summer, has allegedly agreed to join Barcelona in July.

Pep Guardiola, the manager of City, wanted to keep the German international, but Barcelona persuaded him that it was time for a change this summer.

Gundogan, who is 32 years old and approaching his prime at the professional level, has contributed significantly over the last six years to one of the top clubs in Europe.

Due to the potential that Sergio Busquets would go, Barcelona has been desperately trying to make sure they are covered in the pivot position for the next season. The Catalan pivote has an expiring contract this year and has not yet made a decision on his future for the next campaign. However, Xavi Hernandez still views him as an essential member of the squad, and Gundogan was one of the few candidates he considered as having the ability to succeed Busquets.
