We Know My Successor, Stop Wasting Money, Wike Tells APC
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is the only party to be defeated in the general elections next year, according to Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, who has advised other parties—especially the All Progressives Congress (APC)—to refrain from spending money on electioneering in the State.
Inside the State Honours and Awards event on Saturday evening, Wike gave a speech at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Port Harcourt, the state’s capital.
During the event, he told the audience, “Lawyer, you must make money but here don’t worry yourself; nobody would win here,” pleading with the opposition parties to save their funds by forgoing campaigning in the State.
The message was specifically delivered by the governor to APC leaders present at the ceremony, including Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami, SAN, as well as Governors Dave Umahim of Ebonyi State and Yahaya Bello of Kogi State, who were among the recipients.
When Abubakar Malami and David Umahi came to see me, I warned them, “Don’t put money here it won’t work; it is a no-go area,” Wike bragged.
The governor of Rivers State claims that his administration already has a successor, and that his decision was based on the accomplishments of his administration.
“In my state, we already know who will succeed me. I want to tell you to quit spending money on anybody!
“We have a successor right here. Not by my strength, but rather by what we have accomplished in this situation. I don’t want to impose a successor, however. It’s not accurate. Bring a replacement and explain why you plan to do so, Wike advised.
