Tomiyasu, an Arsenal player, is on Japan’s World Cup roster.

Takehiro Tomiyasu of Arsenal, Kaoru Mitoma of Brighton, and Yuta Nakayama of Huddersfield are all included in Japan’s roster for the Fifa World Cup in Qatar.

Daizen Maeda of Celtic is also included, although teammates Kyogo Furuhashi and Reo Hatate aren’t.

Twenty of the team’s 26 players compete in Europe, with Japan competing in Group E against Spain, Germany, and Costa Rica.

Hajime Moriyasu, the head coach, remarked, “I couldn’t call up everyone who was looking forward to this World Cup.”

But I want to thank and honor anyone who has said they want to represent Japan.

“We chose players who will be on the same page as a team, who will be able to move and connect up with each other, and who through their organization will be able to maximize their unique skills,” said the coach.
