Wayne Rooney, a former player for Manchester United, has pushed his old team to quickly recruit Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund.
Rooney wants Manchester United to pursue the English midfielder before Liverpool and Manchester City, calling Bellingham “the hottest teenager in global football.”
Bellingham, then 19 years old, rejected an offer from Man United to join Birmingham City in 2020 and instead chose to join Dortmund.
Bellingham, one of the top young midfielders in the league, was recently named to England’s roster for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
In the past, he has been associated with teams like Man United, Liverpool, City, Real Madrid, and others.
When asked whether Bellingham should be Man United’s top summer target, Rooney responded to talkSPORT as follows:
Hope so! I really hope he stays away from Liverpool and [Manchester] City!
“But I’m sure they’re working; he’s definitely the most popular young player in football right now,” said the speaker.
“I would hope so. I know United attempted to sign him a few of years ago. I am sure they are looking at it as well. At the moment, United could really use a player like him.
