Rio Ferdinand explains what he did for Barcelona’s Pique as a defender.

Rio Ferdinand, a former player for Manchester United, has acknowledged that he was a major factor in Gerrard Pique’s rise to fame.

In his poignant homage to Pique, Ferdinand said this as the Barcelona defender played the final game of his career on Saturday against Almeria.

Between 2004 and 2008, Pique made 23 appearances for Man United.

The Premier League powerhouses received two goals and one assist from the Spaniard.

Pique announced his retirement from the sport at the age of 35 on Thursday, sending a complete shockwave across the entire community.

On Saturday, when Barcelona defeated Almeria 2-0 at Camp Nou, the 2010 World Cup winner had his final outing in a Barcelona jersey.

Ferdinand, who formerly partnered Pique at the center of Man United’s defense, expressed his admiration for the center-back in response to the development.

According to Ferdinand’s Instagram story,

“Gerard What a career, my man! Many people are unaware of the fact that I was one of the main factors in creating you. You had no opportunity because I and Nemanja were playing at Manchester United, therefore you were forced to transfer to Barcelona!

Added him:

“I played a part in propelling you to success by doing that! But truly, I don’t even think you could have predicted when you moved to Barcelona that your career would take off as it did, with tons of victories for both club and country. When you went, one thing you had to do was mature; your intelligence took over, therefore you achieved this swiftly. a pillar of both teams, which many people deem to be the best teams EVER!”
