Rashford responds to his new position playing behind Ronaldo for Man United

Marcus Rashford, who scored for Manchester United in midweek after coming off the bench, thinks he is at ease playing in a central position.

The 24-year-old scored in United’s 3-0 victory against FC Sheriff by heading past the goalie from a Luke Shaw cross. Normally used as a left winger or lone striker, the player was told to play as a second striker immediately behind Cristiano Ronaldo.

It was his sixth goal for United this year, surpassing his total from the whole previous year. The previous five of his goals this season had all come when he was playing off the left flank; however, this was the first one that he had scored while doing so.

Rashford said that his duties are the same regardless of the position he is asked to play and that he is enjoying the chance to be playing regular football under Erik ten Hag.

Rashford is not just having a fantastic season personally, but Ten Hag’s coaching has resulted in undeniable advancements.

The United attacker is looking forward to working with his new management and thinks the positive team spirit that has been formed is much to blame for the improvement.

Added him: “I think I’m making progress. But yes, I’m more happier and having a lot more fun. I really can’t wait for the games. We have a lot of games coming up in a short period of time, but that is why our team is so strong.

“Everyone is ready for it, for the battle, for the challenge. The Chelsea game served as the perfect example of it to me. We gave up late, but we still had the guts and the tenacity to come back and score.

“We were upset by the result, but in the big picture, it shows wonderful character. Although we are aware of it, proving it is another matter.
