Joey Barton Tells Gareth Southgate To Resign

Joey Barton, a former midfielder for Manchester City, has advised England manager Gareth Southgate to step down in the wake of the Three Lions’ elimination from the current 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

England lost to France 2-1 over the weekend, and as a result, was ousted from the World Cup in the quarterfinal.

In charge of 52 victories, 15 losses, and an equal number of draws, Southgate is England’s most successful manager since Sir Alf Ramsay.

Barton, who is in charge of Bristol Rovers in EFL League 1, feels that Southgate should step down from his position as head coach of England.

Can’t believe Southgate hasn’t quit yet, Barton said in a post on Monday using his Twitter account. We could have/should have won two World Cups and a home European Championship.

“Avoid encouraging failure. Must leave. It’s time to bring on a winning employee.
