Cody Gakpo Has Officially Signed By Liverpool From Psv Eindhoven.

Cody Gakpo, a striker for PSV Eindhoven, has been acquired by Liverpool for £37 million.

Gakpo will sign the long-term contract this week as it has been entirely agreed upon as well.

Liverpool will spend up to £50 million, or £37 million plus add-ons.

On Monday night, as Liverpool attempted to stave off competition from Manchester United, negotiations were further along.

United had started the conversation, but Liverpool took advantage of the fact that United had not yet finalized a financial offer.

Last summer, Gakpo had bids from Leeds and Southampton, but he decided to remain at PSV when the Dutch club turned them down.

Despite the attraction of United’s Erik Ten Hag, the 23-year-old decided to wait for bids from teams competing in the Champions League, and Liverpool filled the criteria.

Following knee surgery, Liverpool are concerned about Luis Diaz’s health, while Darwin Nunez is having trouble settling in after joining from Benfica.

Gakpo was offered £25 million plus add-ons by Leeds in the summer, but PSV rejected the bid because they thought the add-ons were too high. They have been refusing to sell the Holland international for less than £45 million.

United had been thought to be the favorite, but the continuous discussion over their sale has raised questions about the money that are easily accessible this month.

Additionally, Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid has been proposed to them.

Virgil van Dijk, a defender for Liverpool and Holland, praised his Gakko at the 2022 World Cup.

When Cody was competing in the event in Qatar, Van Dijk commented, “Hopefully Cody can travel to the moon and back.” He is a wonderful guy and a really excellent player.

“What you see on the field is what we see in practice.” He still has so much potential, and I hope he can continue to demonstrate it for us. We are thrilled with him.
