Barcelona is observing four midfielders from the Premier League.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona is keeping an eye on a number of free agent options ahead of the upcoming summer, many of whom are in the Premier League.

In an effort to both bolster their roster and maintain fiscal responsibility, Barcelona’s director of football Mateu Alemany has publicly stated that the club will continue to look into free agent options in the coming summer.

Romano made it apparent to Caught Offside that the linkages that have surfaced in recent weeks included something.

“We know Barcelona wants free agents again next summer as it’s a strategy that worked well for them last year, so we’re inevitably seeing a lot of names linked with the club,” said a club official.

Ilkay Gundogan, Youri Tielemans, N’Golo Kante, Jorginho, and other free agents have all been linked to Barcelona… It’s typical; they keep a close watch on the best free agents and will revisit that market.

Romano said that nothing was even close to being finished when he made the statements in his column.

“At this time, however, none of these players have made any progress; Gundogan has not yet made a decision regarding his future. Although Tielemans is unsure of his next move, he will not undoubtedly sign a new contract with Leicester.
