Xavi: Lionel Messi deserves the World Cup trophy

After Argentina won the 2022 FIFA World Cup over the weekend, Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernandez stated he felt awful for two France players, Ousmane Dembele and Jules Kounde.

Lionel Messi, the captain of Argentina, deserves to take home the World Cup title, according to Xavi, since he is the greatest player in history.

Remember when Messi scored twice as Argentina and France tied 3-3 in the World Cup championship game on Sunday?

Argentina then won this year’s World Cup in Qatar by defeating the Les Blues 4-2 on penalties.

Xavi commented on the development, as reported by Barca Blaugranes:

“Argentina absolutely deserved to win the World Cup; they played better than Leo [Lionel Messi] did. It seemed a little odd that the greatest player in history didn’t have a World Cup.

All that is left to do is congratulate him because he deserves it since he now owns the World Cup.

“It has been a spectacular final for the viewers,” he said. Despite my sympathy for Jules Kounde and Ousmane Dembele, I thought it was one of the finest matches I had ever seen.
