Wike Promises That If The Efcc Sends Him An Invitation, He Won’t Flee.

When May 29, when his term as governor of Rivers State finishes, Governor Nyesom Wike has declared that he would not flee Nigeria out of fear of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, or EFCC.

When asked to honor the EFCC at the conclusion of his term on May 29, Wike said he would do so joyfully.

The governor was responding to recent comments made by Abdulrasheed Bawa, the chairman of the EFCC, who said that the organization will arrest corrupt governors whose terms finish on May 29.

The threat to arrest governors after their terms expire on May 29 didn’t concern Wike, however.

On Monday, the governor appeared on the Channels Television morning show SUNRISE.

Days before the inauguration of his successor, Wike vowed not to flee Nigeria like some previous governors had done.

“I’m not going to flee due to the EFCC. Why should I be invited, anyway? I will accept their invitation if they so want. I’m not going anywhere.
