While Thugs Steal Vote Boxes In Ogun, There Are Gunshots.

When two ballot boxes were taken from Polling Unit 05, Ward 03 in the Ayegbami neighborhood of Iperu Remo, the rural home of Governor Dapo Abiodun, by individuals thought to be political thugs, the peaceful conduct of the governorship and state assembly election in Ogun State abruptly turned violent.

Unknown hoodlums came into the polling place on motorbikes and began firing into the air with the intention of driving away voters.

The unit’s Assistant Polling Officer (APO), Alalade Babatunde, was beaten up as they attempted to flee with one of the vote boxes before security personnel, in particular the cops on election duty at the adjacent road crossing, could reply with bullets.

Due to the turmoil caused by the development, several electorates were forced to flee for cover in order to escape getting shot by stray gunshots.
