Ladoja and Alli score well in INEC polls

Sen. Rashidi Ladoja, a former governor of Oyo State, gave INEC high marks for managing the governorship and house of assembly elections.

Ladoja characterized the election process as an improvement over the presidential and national assembly elections while speaking to reporters immediately after casting his ballot at unit 13, ward 10, Old Bodija neighborhood in Ibadan at approximately 1 p.m.

He observed that the electoral process moved quickly enough, with accreditation happening quickly and everyone satisfied.

“The containers were almost filled. Initially, we used to come out here to accredit first, then leave and then return to vote, so I cannot tell whether or not the turnout was excellent.

But these days, we do the two tasks concurrently, and you are finished in two to three minutes. You now have the choice of staying or leaving,” he added.

Ladoja asked INEC to guarantee that the election was fair and free in order to live up to Nigerians’ aspirations.

The previous governor responded to reports of violence in certain places by saying, “We cannot prevent bloodshed because our people might be too zealous.

In reality, people might be really content when there is no violence. Because their candidates are winning, they are glad about it, while others whose candidates are losing may feel depressed.

I don’t believe anybody would publicly declare that I am intending to create problems, but this might lead to anything, he added.

Alhaji Sharafadeen Alli, the senator-elect for the Oyo South Senatorial District, has also praised INEC for making improvements from the last elections.

According to him, the procedure went seamless and the supplies and authorities showed up on time, as shown in the polls on February 25.

He asked security organizations to continue their outstanding job and step up security in the regions where violence is reportedly taking place.
