We Are Prepared For Races, Inec, Security Specialists Pronounce
|The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced yesterday that it has completed planning to conduct the general elections starting on Saturday, despite widespread anxiety and crises brought on by the new Naira redesign policy and suggestions that it is a ruse to prevent vote-buying.
In a similar spirit, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the Nigeria Police, and military senior commands as well as other security organizations told Nigerians that they were prepared to oversee and guarantee a peaceful election in 2023.
Throughout the course of the week, nationwide demonstrations over the new Naira shortage broke out, escalating political tension and raising concerns that they would have a negative impact on the next elections. Even some politicians claimed that Federal Government officials intended to use the cash swap strategy to trigger problems.
