Reps Panel Mistakes Buhari Argues That The Choice Might Harm The Election

President Muhammadu Buhari’s decision on the naira exchange program was criticized by the House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee yesterday. They said that much more needed to be done to lessen the suffering of Nigerians as a result of the currency problem.

The committee met with the President on Thursday at the State House in Abuja, under the leadership of the House Majority Leader, Hon. Alhassan Ado Doguwa (APC, Kano).

He urged Nigerians to remain composed and uphold peace and order, stating that the parliament will continue to support the people and oppose any policy that made their hardships worse.

The president met with the lawmakers soon after announcing in a national broadcast that the old N200 banknotes would continue to be legal tender for 60 days, from February 10, 2023, to April 10, 2023, before being replaced by the new N200, N500, and N1000 banknotes.

In a statement provided by Doguwa, the panel expressed appreciation for several of the President’s wise choices made during his national address.

“Mr. President’s actions to date leave a lot to be desired. The already highly unpopular program has the potential to bring about a crisis in the nation that might affect the 2019 general elections.
