Registration for JAMB Direct Entry Continues (See New Guidelines)

The countrywide 2023 Direct Entry enrollment period has commenced, according to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board.

During a press conference held on Monday in Abuja, the Registrar of JAMB, Dr Is-haq Oloyede, made this announcement.

The JAMB director said that the deadline for DE registration will be April 28, 2023.

Oloyede bemoaned the high rate of A Level diploma fraud utilized for registration.

The JAMB Registrar said that the board has updated policies to prevent such behavior.

“You will recall that the board started the 2023 Direct Entry registration on Monday, February 20, 2023, but had to suspend it right away after it was found that there were numerous devices and machinations being used to get around and compromise the standard of A’ Level qualifications required from DE candidates.

“Recall that some of these dishonest and malicious actions were recently exposed by combined operations of the Federal Ministry of Education and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission on DE credentials.

The high percentage of A’ Level qualification fraud for DE has also been constantly brought to light by Bayero University, Kano.

“The Board, interested stakeholders, and institutions are working diligently to find such, and the ones already detected are being dealt with in accordance with the law,” the statement reads.

During the 2023 Direct Entry registration, Oloyede said, the Board will only accept 13 credentials/certificates, including first degrees, university diplomas, higher national diplomas, ordinary national diplomas/national diplomas, and Nigeria Certificates in Education.

For instance, it was found that in prior years, some individuals registered for Direct Entry using questionable and falsified A’ level certificates/qualifications and were ultimately allowed. For instance, just six of the 148 applicants that BUK vetted were found to be authentic. Inferentially, 142 of the outcomes were faked.

Others include the National Registered Nurse/National Registered Midwife, the Interim Joint Matriculation Board A’ Level, the Joint Universities Preliminary Examination Board A’ Level, the NABTEB GCE-A’ Level (2015 – 2021), the Higher Islamic Studies Certificate by NBAIS, and the International Baccalaureate.

The 127 applicants who had previously registered for the 2023 DE before the process was postponed, he said, would be asked to visit the registration centers again and amend their application.

The JAMB chairman also announced that the data bank put in place to solve difficulties linked with the A’ Level credentials had now been rebranded as ‘Nigeria Post-secondary Education Data System’.
