Plateau Speaker’s Abduction Is Thwarted By Police

Yakubu Sanda, Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, escaped a kidnapping attempt yesterday.

Police officers assigned to the speaker and the local Divisional Police Office worked together to save Sanda.

“The Plateau State Police Command, in its aggressive fight against crime and criminality, has continued to frustrate the evil and dastardly act of men of the underworld through the effective and pro-active crime prevention strategies put in place by the chief crime buster in the state, CP Bartholomew Onyeka,” said the command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Alfred Alabo.

According to the statement, the police commissioner’s smart plan has produced significant and noteworthy operational results in recent years.

He said that the tactic had a significant role in thwarting the speaker’s kidnapping.

“On January 6, 2023 at approximately 11:20 p.m., as the speaker arrived at Federal Low Cost Housing, Jos South, it was observed that three unidentified gunmen driving a black CR-V Jeep had followed him there and had made an attempt to break in with the intention of kidnapping him. However, their mission was foiled by the tenacious police on duty.

The quick action of the Divisional Police Officers (DPO), SP Ayuba and his troops, who worked with the guys on duty to thwart the heinous deed, was also mentioned.

The command is making strenuous attempts to find and apprehend the evading individuals, the statement stated.
