PDP Claims A Scheme To Invalidate Additional Cast Ballots In Adamawa

The All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) are accused by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of conspiring to prolong the supplemental election beyond the original 69 polling places and annul previously tallied results in Adamawa State.

During a media briefing in Abuja, PDP National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba cautioned that such an attempt could jeopardize the peace in the multi-ethnic and multi-religious state.

“Gentlemen of the press, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has found a new scheme by the All Progressives Congress (APC) and certain corrupt INEC officials in Adamawa State to further rig the results of the state’s gubernatorial election on March 18, 2023.

“As already announced by INEC, the final tabulation of results from the polling units across Adamawa State shows that the PDP candidate, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, is in clear lead with 31,299 legitimate votes ahead of the APC candidate, Senator Aisha Binani, who was defeated and has been desperately trying to sway the election against the expressed will of the good people of Adamawa State.

“Our party has learned that the APC and its candidate, realizing that they cannot defeat Governor Fintiri in the 69 polling places given his popularity and the steadfastness of the electorate, are now exerting pressure on INEC to change already collated and declared results in other polling places where there were no instances of fraud or election disruption,” he said.

Malam Aliyu Wakil Boya has denied ever funding the theft of the Fufore Local Council election results sheet.

Being a lawyer and the head of the local council, he said to media at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja that there was no way he could have stooped to promote or carry out such illegal activity.

In response to a charge Fintiri made against him on a Channels Television show, Boya stated the governor was unable to back up his assertions that individuals connected to the APC were responsible for the crimes.

“The allegation is totally unfounded,” he declared. I feel compelled to respond to that accusation in order to defend myself.

“When a lie is allowed to be spread for a very long time, it starts to appear to be the truth. In light of this, I want to clarify that it is untrue what His Excellency, Governor Fintiri said on Channels Television last Sunday night that I took part in the electoral fraud that occurred in Fufore during the governor’s and House of Assembly elections.

“I agree that the incident in Fufore on election day was unpleasant and absolutely uncalled for. And by holding this viewpoint, I now entirely distance myself from the illegalities that occurred that day.

Boya emphasized that individuals who have linked his name to the fraudulent election interference in Fufore are misinformed and cunning, and that they are just interested in gaining cheap political points and swaying public opinion.
