NLC’s New Leader Is Ajaero.

Comrade Joe Ajaero, the newly elected president of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), has committed to re-engage Nigerians in the movement’s fight for the improvement of Nigerian workers.

At the conclusion of the 13th quadrennial National Delegates’ conference of Congress in Abuja yesterday, taking over for Comrade Ayuba Wabba, Ajaero declared that his team would work to forge stronger ties in order to forge stronger alliances, with the people once more rising to be bearers of their desires and amplifiers of their voices.

In addition to speaking for the 133 million multifacetedly impoverished Nigerians, Ajaero promised that his team will look for opportunities to free the country’s people from the chains of poverty.

He said, “We will once again be the genuine champions of the Nigerian people, shouting out their screams and working together to wage our fights against all forces of poverty and suffering.

The NLC chairman continued by saying that, under his direction, the labor center would engage with its social partners, including important national players, to create a country that was more inclusive in all respects and equitable to all Nigerians, particularly workers.

He said that the National Labour Council would ask the National Labour Advisory Council to evaluate the country’s labor laws (NLAC). In order to prevent the NLC’s rapid involvement, Ajaero advised all employers of labor who are currently involved in unresolved labor disputes with their employees and unions.

Wabba voiced his unhappiness over the suffering of Nigerians as a result of the shortage of Naira notes in his last address as the chairman of the labor center.

Due to the chaos at our banks and gas stations, where Nigerians are standing in lengthy lines to examine new currency notes and PMS, he said that “many Nigerians and employees have been pushed to the wall.”
