King instructs N’Delta ministry to stop depriving NDDC of funding.
Monday Whiskey, the traditional leader of the Idjerhe Kingdom in Delta State, voiced concern about alleged meddling in the Niger Delta Development Commission’s activities by federal ministry of niger delta affairs employees yesterday (NDDC).
The monarch also requested President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently relocate the NDDC back to the presidency in order to enhance project delivery efficiency and to facilitate administration, as opposed to having it based at the Federal Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs.
Whiskey said that certain dishonest suspected members of the Federal Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs tried to starve the existing board of the commission of funding.
The king argued that the NDDC should be entitled to the same benefits as the North East Development Commission, which is housed under the presidency.
The monarch, who is in charge of about 94 communities in Idjerhe Kingdom, expressed concern that a certain cabal working within the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs is determined to starve the NDDC of funds in order to thwart efforts to provide developmental projects in the Niger Delta region, saying: “I want to use this medium to request the current leadership of the NDDC to revisit the projects that were abandoned in Idjerhe Kingdom and put plans in place for new o
