Nigeria Made No Progress in 2022, Kukah Bemoans

Nigeria made little progress in 2022, according to Reverend Father Matthew Hassan Kukah, the Catholic bishop of the Sokoto Diocese.

In an interview with The PUNCH on Sunday, Kukah made this claim.

“Let us run first before we speak about re-run,” he said, rejecting political rumors that the 2023 elections will be redone.

Additionally, he urged Nigerians to strive for a vote-counting, free, credible, and fair election.

The new administration hasn’t yet taken office, but according to Kukah, all Nigerians must immediately question themselves whether they are better off today than they were before.

“As the new year approaches, it is important to consider one of the most significant events in both global history and Nigerian history. How many stages of our country’s history can we, in 2022, proudly desire to look back on with great delight and celebration?

“For instance, the Moroccan people will consider how they defeated Brazil in the World Cup. Nigerians will have to express their opinions on the last year, but the future is now in our hands.

“We are hoping and praying for another set of elections, and our goal is that these elections will be devoid of bloodshed and manipulation. According to what we are hearing from INEC, the procedure is now a little bit clearer.

“I believe that right now, living with the outcomes of free, fair, and trustworthy elections is the largest challenge for us.

Before we discuss a repeat performance, let’s run. We only hope that a winner will be declared if the elections are free, fair, and trustworthy.

“I don’t believe we should start discussing the likelihood of a repeat or anything else because we are simply agitating the situation. I believe we should simply assume there will be an election and a victor will be chosen.
