Martins calls on Nigerians to pray for peace and divine guidance in 2023

In order to guarantee that the New Year is free from disorder and anarchy, the Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Most Rev. Alfred Adewale Martins, has asked Nigerians to seek heavenly direction in their search for peace in 2023.

He believes that for the nation to regain its former enviable status as one of the world’s most peaceful and rapidly rising economies, peace is still essential and unavoidable.

The Prelate charged all Nigerians to play active roles in the upcoming general elections by making sure they vote only for God-fearing leaders who are capable of leading the nation towards the path of prosperity in a homily delivered at the 2023 New Year Mass, which was also used to celebrate the 56th World Day of Peace at the Holy Cross Cathedral, Lagos.

Archbishop Martins reassured the populace that nothing was too tough for God to do since He has the power to turn apparently hopeless circumstances around for the better and that what the nation needs right now are god-fearing leaders who would wipe away the tears of the people.

Therefore, he tasked party leaders to persuade their followers to rigorously abide by the terms of the recently modified Electoral Act and abstain from engaging in electoral fraud during the next elections.

Martins criticized the recent killing of Mrs. Bolanle Raheem by a police officer, but he also expressed sadness that the officer also murdered two of the deceased’s unborn children.

Similar to this, Prophet Richard Kolawole of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Arogungbogunmi International, encouraged the Federal Government to fight the spread of illicit firearms in the North in order to combat terrorism.

At the weekend’s Freedom Festival 2023 launch, Kolawole gave a speech at the church’s headquarters in Olomi, Olunde, Ibadan, and Oyo State under the subject “Powerful one with mighty hand.”

He claims that certain terrorist organizations and some overzealous politicians are undermining the nation’s integrity and slowing down its forward growth.

If their party does not win the 2023 presidential election, certain forces are preparing to ignite the country, he said. We need to pray hard for God to punish those who are out to wreak havoc.
