Kebbi Immigration Frees One Kid And Three Girls From Human Traffickers.

Four victims of human trafficking have been rescued in the state by NIS agents working out of the Kebbi State Command.

Mrs. Rabi Bashir Nuhu, the state controller, revealed this yesterday. She said a patrol team stopped the victims on March 24, 2023, while they were traveling in a commercial bus from Lagos State to Sokoto via Kebbi State.

She claims that the victims, who were traveling via Kebbi-Sokoto to go to Libya, have been given to the National Agency for the Prevention of Trafficking in People (NAPTIP)

The Controller told reporters immediately after turning them over to NAPTIP that during questioning, agents learned that two of the females were traveling to Algeria while the other girl and the lone kid were headed to Libya.

“Our research revealed that the victims’ parents were aware of their travel plans,” she added. Also, they admitted that they were leaving for work as NAPTIP finished its ongoing probe.

One of the females, according to Nuhu, stated that she was traveling to Libya for work, although it seems likely that she was recruited for prostitution or organ harvesting instead.

She issued a warning to parents, particularly those in the south and east of the nation, saying that doing so might result in their children being sold into slavery or forced into prostitution.

The NIS will detain and punish anybody caught in such an act, Nuhu further promised.

Sadiq Abubakar Atiku, the head of operations for NAPTIP in Kebbi State, promised that the organization will look into the situation thoroughly and reunite the victims with their families.

Adesina Godwin, one of the victims who testified on behalf of the others, said that his parents knew about their trip to Libya.

He made a commitment to visit his parents in Osun State again.
