Kaduna Requests Once Again That Agencies Accept Old Notes.

The Kaduna State Government has instructed its ministries, departments, and agencies to continue accepting payments in both old and new naira denominations in accordance with the Supreme Court’s ongoing decision.

Due to the continued naira scarcity, the state administration recently issued a warning against a breakdown in law and order and said that all forms of protest are forbidden.

According to a statement made by Special Adviser (Media and Communication), Muyiwa Adekeye, Governor Nasir el-Rufai said that employees of government agencies are not permitted to participate in cash collecting under Kaduna State legislation.

The collection agents authorized by state government entities do provide a method for individuals to pay in cash and are required to abide by the current court decision.

Samuel Aruwan, the commissioner for internal security and home affairs, said that the government had received reliable information that a number of organisations intended to use street demonstrations to disturb the peace.

He advised against behaviors that may lead to a breakdown in law and order and reminded residents that such demonstrations remain completely illegal.

“Security services have been put on high alert and have been ordered by the government to firmly maintain law and order,” the statement to that effect said.
