Job Applicant Imprisoned For Robbing A Church Of Its Chairs

Shedrach Johnson, an applicant for a job, was remanded on Friday by an Upper Area Court in Karu, Abuja, after he admitted to stealing 100 plastic chairs.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Johnson was accused of stealing and criminal trespass by the police.

Malam Hassan Mohammed, the judge, postponed the judgment and rescheduled it for March 24.

Mohammed ordered that the prisoner be held on remand in the Keffi Custodial Facility.

Earlier, Mr. Olarewaju Osho, the prosecution’s attorney, informed the court that one Pastor Uche Eke of Gidan Daya, Orozo, Abuja, had reported the incident.

Osho testified in court that the offender broke into the complainant’s church illegally, took 100 plastic chairs, and three water bottles.

He said that the security guards on duty assisted in the capture of the criminal and that three plastic chairs and a case of bottled water were found on him.

Johnson admitted responsibility but appealed for forgiveness.
