Ilorin Police Officer Kills Self After Murdering Lover

It was a grisly scene yesterday at the Chapel of Redemption Agba Dam Housing Estate in Ilorin when a police sergeant assigned to the Kwara State Police Command shot and murdered another woman in Ilorin with the same revolver before turning the gun on himself.

According to reports, the woman was slain by the cop, Olalere Michael, who had the badge number F/NO 497093, at about 8:05 a.m.

During a preliminary inquiry, the State Police Commissioner, Paul Odama, said that the victims were lovers whose romances turned sour and resulted in the heinous incident.

When The Guardian arrived at the scene at about 9:07 a.m., a sizable crowd had gathered to see the motionless corpses, which were covered in blood and showed evidence of severe gunshot wounds on their heads.

Speaking about the event, Odama denied police violence and pledged more inquiries.

He said that the deceased’s remains had been placed in the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH), Ilorin, mortuary.

According to him, on March 2, 2023, at around 8:05 a.m., information was received by the command that a police officer, later identified by his name tag as F/NO 497093, Sergeant Olalere Michael “m,” assigned to 15 PMF, Ilorin, had gone to the Chapel of Redemption Agba Dam Housing Estate in Ilorin and killed an unnamed woman before shooting himself in the head and passing away.

“As soon as the information reached the Command, Kwara State Police Commissioner Paul Odama sent a team of officers and detectives to the spot, where the bodies were collected and sent to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, where they were declared dead.

The Command wants it to be known that the fatal occurrence was the result of a love affair gone wrong and had nothing to do with police misconduct.

The investigation into this terrible situation is ongoing, and as soon as it is finished, a report will be made public.
