Initiating A Legal Team To Contest Tinubu’s Win Is Atiku
Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) presidential candidate, has formed a legal team to contest the results of the 2023 election, which named Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner.
In order to overcome rival Atiku, who received a total of 6,984,520 votes, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party, who received a total of 6,101,533 votes, Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State, earned 8,794,726 votes.
After rejecting the election results, Atiku and Obi declared their intention to sue the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for alleged election cheating and manipulation in favor of Tinubu and the APC.
Atiku challenged the legal team, comprised of 19 Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs), at the inauguration at his campaign headquarters on Tuesday to prove the election’s alleged illegality and restore the Nigerian people’s mandate.
Moreover, he instructed the legal team to take advantage of the trial’s potential to enhance the nation’s constitutional democracy in addition to reclaiming the mandate.
Atiku continued by saying that they needed to work diligently on regaining the mandate, not only for him and the PDP, but also to support democracy and the election system for next generations.
Chief J. K. Gadzama (SAN) leads the legal team, which also includes Chief Chris Uche (SAN), Paul Usoro (SAN), Tayo Jegede (SAN), Ken Mozia (SAN), Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), Mahmood Magaji (SAN), Joe Abraham (SAN), Chukwuma Umeh (SAN), Dr. Garba Tetengi (SAN), and Chief Emeka Etiaba (SAN).
The National Legal Adviser of the PDP, Chief Goddy Uche (SAN), Prof. Maxwell Gidado (SAN), Nella Rabana (SAN), Paul Ogbole (SAN), Nuremi Jimoh (SAN), and Abdul Ibrahim are additional SANs (SAN).
