FG condemns Edo rail passenger abductions.

According to the Federal Government, the abduction of railway passengers at the Tom Ikimi Train Station in Igueben, Edo, is abhorrent and absolutely savage.

This was said in a statement made on Sunday in Abuja by Mr. Henshaw Ogubike, Director of Press and Public Relations for the Ministry of Transportation.

The security authorities are working to free the abducted train passengers, the public is therefore reassured.

In order to safeguard the lives and property of the remaining passengers, the Nigeria Police have mobilized and are on the trail of the offenders.

More information would be given later, Ogubike said, adding that “the government is pained by this unfortunate event and promises on its swift reaction to the horrible situation.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on January 7, some claimed herdsmen assaulted the railway station at Igueben and abducted several passengers who were waiting to board the train to Warri while armed with AK-47 rifles.
