Isiala Ngwa North LGA Receives The Empty Governor’s Seat From The ABIA PDP.
Members of the Abia PDP State Caucus met today and decided to zone the vacant governorship to Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area, the late Prof. Eleazar Uche Ikonne’s home LGA, following his death on January 25, 2022, and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, directive to hold a new primary within 14 days to replace him.
The choice was made during a meeting of the Abia PDP State Caucus, whose members come from all across the state, including the local governments of Abia North, Ikwuano/Umuahia, Ukwa East, and Ukwa West. Elder Abraham Amah, the acting state publicity secretary and vice chairman of the Abia PDP, made this announcement.
The governor of the state, His Excellency Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, the speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Engr. Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, the former governor of the state, Senator Theodore A. Orji, and the other two PDP candidates for the Senate, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa and Col. Austin Akobundu, were all present at the meeting.
The Statutory members of the Abia PDP State Caucus were also present, with the exception of one who submitted a letter of apology.
The Party calls on its supporters to back the selection made by the Party caucus and put out effort to have a victorious primary election on February 4, 2023.
The Party also urges its supporters to be on guard and wait for updates and briefings from the Abia PDP’s publicity department.
