Due To The Gasoline And Naira Crises, Makinde Suspends Campaign Operations.

Oyo State governor Seyi Makinde has halted his campaigning till further notice due to the state’s ongoing gasoline and new naira note crises.

Makinde, whose campaign trail has been through several regions of the state, stated on Friday that his campaigning would be coming to an end at the flag off of the Omi-Adio-Ido Road.

Dr. Wasiu Olatubosun, the Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism, said this in a statement.

The governor said that the suspension was made in solidarity with the people after their recent traumatic experiences related to the state’s ongoing fuel and new naira-note issue.

Makinde, who was in Ido to continue his campaign, gave the order to halt all operations since the level of suffering among the populace was intolerable.

The governor said that the choice was made because he was elected to represent and safeguard the interests of state residents.

Makinde also instructed party leaders in the state to halt further political activities as he flagged off the Omi-Adio-Ido Road in an emotionally charged voice.

“At this moment, Makinde’s devotion for his people required this unusual action.

The governor was cited as stating, “We encourage all citizens and inhabitants of the state to be calm as we navigate through this trying moment together.”
