Dogara Explains His Position On Joining APC – Read What He Said

Yakubu Dogara, a former speaker of the House of Representatives, has denied reports that he has rejoined the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The leader of the Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP, reacted to a question on Monday.

“It’s difficult. I do not support any parties, just candidates.

Dogara answered.

During the weekend, Sadique Abubakar, an APC candidate for governor of Bauchi State, was seen with Dogara.

From July 2015 until January 2021, the 63-year-old retired Air Marshal served as Nigeria’s Chief of Air Staff.

Politicians are courting Dogara as a result of his significant contribution to the PDP’s victory against the APC in the 2015 gubernatorial election.

He has a sizable fan base, which helped Jafaru Gambo Leko, an APC protégé, win the national assembly election on February 25.

Dogara, who held the position from 2007 to 2019, lost his election to the Bogoro/Dass/Tafawa Balewa Federal Constituency seat to the youthful candidate.

“Despite the fact that they hired thugs to assault us and took BVAS from certain voting locations, the person they intended to force retire will be succeeded by a protégé.

“The God of justice appeared because we adopted a position based on justice, fairness, and accommodation for everyone, regardless of tribe or creed,”

Dogara tweeted after Leko’s triumph.

Last year, the ex-lawmaker switched parties to the PDP in opposition to the APC’s Bola Tinubu-Kashim Shettima Muslim-Muslim ticket.

Senator Elisha Abbo and ex-Secretary of the Government of the Federation Babachir Lawal were among those who opposed it.
