2,670 People Are Sent By Nscdc To Provide Security At C/River.

With regard to security for the Saturday presidential and national assembly elections, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Cross River has stationed 2,670 men around the state.

This information was provided on Friday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Calabar by Mr. Samuel Fadeyi, Commander of the corps in the state.

According to Fadeyi, the deployed officers were required to collaborate with other security services to guarantee that the state’s elections went off without a hitch.

He warned his soldiers not to exhibit any partiality for any political party during the voting process and said that anybody found doing so will face consequences.

“We’ve educated our soldiers on the Electoral Act of 2022. Since security agencies are involved in the Electoral Act, our personnel should be aware that compromises have repercussions.

“NSCDC is ranked highly for integrity, therefore any staff who attempts to bring the corps’ reputation into discredit will be dealt with,” he stated.

He emphasized that the command was prepared to work with other security agencies to guarantee security for the state’s electorate.

He said that the state’s joint service had previously engaged in a show of force to let citizens know that the security services were prepared for the elections.

He told NAN that the military will be called in to restore peace and order in situations where the degree of violence rose to an extreme level.

Adding that anybody caught would face the wrath of the law, he cautioned youths in the state to reject any attempts by politicians to exploit them to incite violence on election day.
